The BEVA Nurse Empowerment Award

Nurses are vital to the future of equine practice and deserve celebrating. Our nurse empowerment award recognises members of the profession who empower equine nurses and champion their role, whether through leading by example or by advocating for the significance of the equine nurse.

Why nominate?

Because equine nurses are often the steady hands, sharp minds, and calm presence keeping everything running behind the scenes - and this award is a chance to make sure that doesn’t go unnoticed

The Nurse Empowerment Award specifically celebrates people who don’t just value equine nurses, but actively lift them up. That could be through mentorship, speaking up for their role in the wider profession, or setting an example that shows exactly how essential nurses are to high-quality equine care.

Nominating someone is a way of saying: “You don’t just work alongside nurses - you help them thrive, grow, and be recognised for the impact they make every single day.”

Who can be nominated?

Any vet, nurse or practice member who has actively championed the role of equine veterinary nursing in one of the following ways

  • Promote the equine veterinary nursing role within practice and to the public.
  • Support and inspire equine veterinary nurses.
  • Demonstrate that nurses are integral to equine practice.
  • Expand the role of the equine veterinary nurse within a practice or the wider profession.
  • Go above and beyond to demonstrate what nurses can bring to equine patient care.
  • Promote or encourage further training and up-skilling of equine veterinary nurses.
  • Use the equine veterinary nurse qualification to advance veterinary medicine or equine welfare.
