The BEVA Equine Welfare Award shines a spotlight on people who go above and beyond for horses - celebrating those who’ve made a real, lasting difference to equine welfare through dedication, compassion, and a whole lot of hard work.

Why nominate?

Because it’s your chance to spotlight the person who’s basically been a behind-the-scenes superhero for horses 

The BEVA Equine Welfare Award isn’t just about “doing a good job” - it’s for the people who’ve genuinely changed the game for equine welfare. The ones whose work has quietly raised standards, reshaped thinking, or made life better for horses far beyond their own yard or clinic.

So if someone comes to mind who’s been out there improving horse welfare in a way that actually sticks and spreads - this is your moment to say: “Hey, the horse world is better because of you.”

Who can be nominated?

Anyone, including an individual, group or organisation can be nominated for this award providing they have made a significant contribution to equine welfare

How to nominate

Anyone can put forward a nomination.

Here's how it works:

  1. Find a seconder - you'll need one other person to back the nomination, and at least one of you must be a BEVA member
  2. Submit an online nomination - fill out a simple form and tell us how your nominee has benefitted equine welfare 
  3. All nominees will be reviewed by the BEVA Board of Management and approved by the Blue Cross
  4. Winner announcement - the grand reveal happens at BEVA Congress!
What's in it for the winner?

Apart from the glory (and probably a few happy tears), here's what the  winner will get:

  • A trophy (aka bragging rights)
  • A cash prize
  • One-day entry to BEVA Congress 2026
