Project WORMS asks vets to encourage clients to get involved in worming survey

News
09 Jan 2026 BEVA

The Project WORMS initiative is asking vets to encourage their clients to partake in their worming survey, they say:

After the success of the first phase of Project WORMS (working to overcome resistance and make for a sustainable future), the next phase is focussed on livery yard owners. One of the key findings from the initial phase was that 42% of the horse owners who took part in the survey kept their horses on yards managed by someone else and for 40% of these horses, it was the yard manager who made decisions about worming practices.

To understand the decisions made by owners and/or managers of such yards a survey was developed to explore management and treatment strategies applied by this demographic. The initial response is promising however, we would like to encourage our veterinary colleagues in BEVA to promote the survey amongst their clients helping us to get a better picture of what is happening now. We would hope that the information gathered will aid veterinarians to target their future advice and guidance in the most appropriate way. We thank our colleagues in advance for any promotion that they can help us with.
