Power to Ukraine purchases 24 generators

The Power to Ukraine project is delighted to be able to update all of our supporters with the exciting news that we have now sourced and purchased 24 portable generators.

The funding and sourcing of these units would not have been possible without the huge efforts and dedication of so many people to who we are very grateful. Charlie Thornycroft has been instrumental in initiating the project, World Horse Welfare and British Equestrians for Ukraine have enabled the project to become a reality. BEVA members have thrown their support behind the fundraising effort and Horse Power have added their mighty force to help us achieve our goal. A huge thank you to each and every one of our supporters.

What happens next?

The generators will remain at the company of purchase, Solent Power Ltd, until the end of August whilst the necessary paperwork and transport arrangements into Ukraine are put into place. They will then head to Bourton Vale Equine Clinic in Gloucestershire ready for export. Why Bourton Vale Equine Clinic?  Well, that’s because the amazing team at Bourton Vale, led by equine vet Greg Staniek and his wife Lorraine, have been tireless in organising and transporting humanitarian aid from Gloucestershire to Ukraine. They have done this through their local Rotary Club in a project that Greg and Lorraine set up themselves called Project Lifeline. Greg and Lorraine have now very kindly provided their knowledge and organisation skills to Power to Ukraine to ensure that we deliver the next phase of the project in getting the units to the vets and horse rescue centres in Ukraine that need them.
