Guards Polo Club, founded in 1955 in Windsor Great Park by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, is internationally recognised as one of the world’s leading polo clubs.
We are seeking a confident and experienced Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join the Club as Veterinary Surgeon & Welfare Officer in a permanent role where you ONLY WORK for 6 months of the year.
The Opportunity
From April to September, you will provide veterinary cover across a busy, high-profile season (600+ matches annually). From October to March, you are completely free to travel, locum, work abroad or pursue CPD, while retaining the security of a permanent role. This role may particularly suit someone wishing to work or live abroad during the off-season.
The Role
• Match-day veterinary cover
• Sideline and emergency care
• Supported by Emerson & Watson (experienced local equine practice)
• Additional vets on-site for higher-level matches
• Involvement in welfare policy
• Communication with players, grooms, officials and staff
• No long-term case management
You will work within a well-supported system and are not expected to make difficult decisions in isolation.
What the Role Offers
• Permanent contract (flexible salary structure)
• Package up to £65,000 depending on experience

• £2,000 CPD + RCVS, VDS and BEVA fees covered

Requirements
• MRCVS and eligible to work in the UK
• Experience in equine ambulatory and emergency care
• Confidence in high-pressure situations (rare but important)
Important Considerations
• 6 days per week, including weekends (typically Mondays off)
