Guards Polo Club, founded in 1955 in Windsor Great Park by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, is internationally recognised as one of the world’s leading polo clubs.

We are seeking a confident and experienced Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join the Club as Veterinary Surgeon & Welfare Officer in a permanent role where you ONLY WORK for 6 months of the year.

The Opportunity
From April to September, you will provide veterinary cover across a busy, high-profile season (600+ matches annually). From October to March, you are completely free to travel, locum, work abroad or pursue CPD, while retaining the security of a permanent role. This role may particularly suit someone wishing to work or live abroad during the off-season.

The Role
•    Match-day veterinary cover
•    Sideline and emergency care
•    Supported by Emerson & Watson (experienced local equine practice)
•    Additional vets on-site for higher-level matches
•    Involvement in welfare policy
•    Communication with players, grooms, officials and staff
•    No long-term case management

You will work within a well-supported system and are not expected to make difficult decisions in isolation.

What the Role Offers
•    Permanent contract (flexible salary structure)
•    Package up to £65,000 depending on experience
•    Vehicle provided (private use)
•    Private medical insurance
•    No on-call
•    Late starts (~10am) and most days finish by ~6:30pm
•    £2,000 CPD + RCVS, VDS and BEVA fees covered
•    7-day break during July or August
•    Discounted meals and clubhouse access

Requirements
•    MRCVS and eligible to work in the UK
•    Experience in equine ambulatory and emergency care
•    Confidence in high-pressure situations (rare but important)

Important Considerations
•    6 days per week, including weekends (typically Mondays off)
