Equine Veterinarian – Fixed Term position
Cambridge Equine Hospital is seeking a well-rounded equine veterinarian to become a valued member of our existing team of 11 veterinarians (which includes Registered Specialists in Equine Surgery and in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation), for the upcoming breeding season (August through to February 2027). Ideally you will have one to three years’ experience in general equine practice, with additional expertise in neonatal medicine, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, and stud medicine considered a distinct advantage.
Located in the heart of the Waikato, Cambridge Equine Hospital offers both first opinion and referral services. Live and work in the centre of New Zealand's thoroughbred and sport horse industry, with easy access to Auckland and numerous nearby beaches.
Our extensive client base features thoroughbred studs, breakers, agistment farms, and trainers, alongside a growing population of sport and pleasure horses. We are equipped with a comprehensive suite of diagnostic tools, including an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, nuclear scintigraphy, portable video-endoscopy, lameness locator, televet ECG, and battery-powered dental equipment.
In this role, you will be involved in anaesthesia, the care of hospitalised internal medicine cases (including neonates), pre- and post-operative surgical patient care and diagnostic imaging, in addition to primary ambulatory duties. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player, demonstrating excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering the highest standards of practice. You will be joining a supportive and collaborative team of veterinarians who are passionate about their work.
Candidates must be eligible for registration in New Zealand (see details at www.vetcouncil.org.nz). A generous remuneration package including CE allowance, vehicle for personal use, professional registration fees, and relocation stipend will reflect your experience and qualifications. We support overseas candidates with registration and visa processes where appropriate. As part of the Altano Group, you will have access to a worldwide network of colleagues and specialists with whom you can collaborate through exchange groups, virtual and in-person CE events, and have online access to the entire catalogue of VetPD courses.
If you are passionate about equine veterinary care and would like to join our team, we encourage you to apply by sending your cover letter, CV, and three references (with contact details) to careers@ceh.co.nz.
