About the Webinar
Colic in the foal is a diagnostic challenge and a therapeutic conundrum. Clinical signs and prognosis can deteriorate rapidly without timely and thoughtful intervention. Dr. Emily Floyd from Rossdales, Newmarket, UK and Dr. Jamie Kopper, Iowa State University, USA, discuss their approaches to assessment and management of apparent abdominal pain in the neonatal foal and beyond, highlighting the most common causes and appropriate initial management of this potentially life-threatening condition.
Physical examination, ultrasonographic findings, analgesia, and ongoing supportive care will be outlined. Non-gastrointestinal sources of pain which may confound the primary clinician will also discussed. This lively and informative session will be chaired by Dr. Peter Morresey, Rood and Riddle, Lexington, Kentucky. Definitely not a clinic to be missed for veterinarians in a primary care role, whether it be field or hospital.
