Stud Associate, Rossdales Veterinary Surgeons
Rossdales Veterinary Surgeons is offering a 2-year assistant post (ending after the stud season in 2021) for a new or recently graduated veterinary surgeon to join our highly experienced team of veterinary surgeons, servicing and supporting the ambulatory stud farm practice in Newmarket. This exciting role offers the potential to work with some of the Thoroughbred breeding community’s most elite stud farms and horses.

The Stud Associate will primarily act as an assistant vet in our Stud team servicing Thoroughbred clients and stud farms in and around Newmarket. Duties will include daily stud visits, routine foal checks and treatments, microchipping and assisting on the stud round. This will typically involve carrying out uterine lavage, uterine treatment and Caslick operations. You may be asked to help out in other areas of the practice as needed and will be required to gain your Official Veterinarian (OV) status to support the export department of the practice. You will also participate in the stud practice on call rota. This is an excellent position for someone wishing to broaden their experience and knowledge in this area of equine veterinary medicine and reproduction.
The stud practice is located in the centre of Newmarket, at the heart of the racing community, and is supported by Rossdales Laboratories, our Equine Hospital, Diagnostic Centre and Medical Intensive Care Unit for fast response diagnostic, surgical and medical procedures.
The successful candidate will be able to take advantage of an excellent CPD package which promotes learning both externally and with access to the internationally renowned Rossdales CPD programmes.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
The standard working week includes Saturday mornings and the position will include contribution to the out of hours on-call service. It is a requirement of the position that the Veterinary Assistant lives within 10 minutes of the stud practice.
