Resident Equine Veterinarian for Arrowfield Stud, NSW, Australia 

We have an exciting opportunity for an equine veterinarian to join Arrowfield Stud’s dedicated veterinary team. 

What we offer:

• Excellent equipment including multiple endoscopes, a gastroscope, an X-Ray unit and an on-site laboratory, plus your own high quality ultrasound machine

• A constantly interesting and varied clinical caseload that doesn’t require extensive driving between cases

• Full-time work (with shared on call) during the six months of the breeding season (August-January). Outside this period, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

• An attractive, above-average remuneration package commensurate with experience, including a car, phone and accommodation

Our new vet

• Will have well-established skills in a broad range of equine practice including a minimum of 2 years’ experience (prior internship considered favorably.

• Will be able to manage low to mid-level ICU hospital cases and undertake minor surgeries on the farm.

• Will preferably have an interest in working with young stock and racehorses

• May have experience in stud medicine and foaling, but it is not essential provided there is a desire to continue learning and acquiring new skills.  

• Will be part of the larger stud team, so good interpersonal skills are essential.

•Will be energetic, motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced practice.

• Must be registered to practice as an equine Vet in the state of NSW, Australia

About Arrowfield Stud

Arrowfield Stud, situated on ~3000 beautiful acres near Scone in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW, is one of Australia’s leading thoroughbred breeding operations. 

The Stud will stand 7 stallions in 2026, is home to more than 350 resident broodmares and their progeny and is one of the country’s most successful consignors of yearlings with large drafts at most major sales. 

The state-of-the-art Arrowfield Training Centre adjacent to the Stud is home to the Paul Messara and Leah Gavranich Racing Stable where around ~70 thoroughbreds are

trained and pre-trained. 

About Scone

Scone is a well-serviced country town with excellent schools, and a good range of sporting and recreational facilities.  We are 3 hours from Sydney and 2 hours from the coastal city of Newcastle.
