Equine Veterinary Nurses/Technicians/Yard Hands

Seasonal Roles

Matamata Veterinary Services - Equine is a large, well-established veterinary practice seeking expressions of interest for full time, seasonal positions - including equine nurses, technicians, and yard hands - based at our busy, purpose-built Equine Hospital in the Waikato, New Zealand. These roles are for the 2026 breeding season (August – December/January).

Requirements

Equine Veterinary Nurse

• Formal Veterinary Nursing training and/or the ability to demonstrate experience and knowledge equivalent to formal qualifications, including competence in theatre nursing.

Other Seasonal Roles

• Proven experience in the equine industry with strong horse-handling skills, particularly with Thoroughbreds.

• An energetic team player with a positive, “can-do” attitude.

• Demonstrated empathy and a commitment to providing excellent care and welfare for horses in our practice.

• A consistent standard of professionalism and service for our clients.

• Flexibility to support various areas of the business as required.

• Availability to participate in an after hours roster, which may include periods of night shift work.
