Equine Vet (Ambulatory) – Agnew Equine - Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire
Are you passionate about horses and keen to work with an independent practice?
Agnew Equine is an independent ambulatory equine practice, established in 2001. Our friendly team of six vets is known for professionalism, honesty, and exceptional care. We proudly serve clients across Cheshire, Staffordshire, and Derbyshire, including the stunning Peak District. From children’s ponies to international competition horses, our varied caseload makes every day rewarding and different.
We welcome applications from both experienced vets and recent graduates. For experienced vets, you’ll have the freedom to fully work up your cases with access to all the diagnostic tools you need. We, and our clients, value thorough, high-quality care, making the clinical side genuinely satisfying. You’ll also be supported in developing any areas of special interest, working alongside an experienced and approachable team that includes certificate holders in Orthopaedics and Medicine. Our excellent admin team ensures everything is wrapped up by the end of the day, so you can properly switch off in the evenings.
For recent graduates, we offer a supportive and structured start to your career. As an RCVS Approved Graduate Development Practice, we’re well equipped to help you build confidence and clinical skills. You’ll work closely with senior vets, starting with supervision and gradually taking on more responsibility. The role is designed to develop competence across routine equine work, while also giving exposure to more complex cases.
One of the key advantages of ambulatory practice is the level of hands-on experience you’ll gain, not just clinically, but in building strong client relationships. You’ll be actively involved from the start. We also offer regular training opportunities, including ride-along ‘shadow days’, plus a mix of in-house and external CPD to keep learning practical and relevant.
While many practices are now corporate-owned, we remain proudly independent and family-run, allowing us to keep our focus where it matters: our team, our clients, and delivering excellent care. Based in Biddulph Moor, Staffordshire, the practice offers scenic countryside drives and easy access to the Peak District - a great place to live and work.
