An exciting opportunity has become available to join Sussex Equine Hospital as an Equine Nurse. 

As an Equine Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

 You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Your working pattern will typically include three late shifts per week, usually from 11 am to 8 pm, scheduled on a rota basis. You will also participate in the weeknight and weekend on-call rota, approximately one week in four, for which time off in lieu is provided.

You will be part of a highly skilled and supportive clinical team, working alongside four dedicated day nurses, a night nurse, and two student nurses.

 General responsibilities include:

 *Delivering high-quality inpatient care, including safe animal handling and nursing within specialist units

*Ensuring all medical records are maintained to a professional, accurate, and compliant standard

*Working collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and multidisciplinary specialist teams

*Supporting advanced diagnostic imaging procedures, including MRI and CT

*Assisting with a range of diagnostic techniques such as ultrasonography and gamma scintigraphy

*Providing support, including patient preparation, monitoring, and aftercare

*Assisting clinicians during a variety of surgical procedures involving both standing and anaesthetised patients

 Salary

A salary of up to £30,000 FTE depending on experience

Within the team, we’re proud to have four specialists in Equine Surgery, two specialists in Internal Medicine, and two Diplomates in Equine Reproduction.  Applicant Requirements

 We’re looking for a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering high standards of care. You’ll bring:

* Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS

* Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing

* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues

* Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively

* A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement

Ideally, we are looking for an experienced nurse with practical experience in equine caseloads. However, we are happy to speak to newly qualified nurses who have an interest in pursuing a career in equine.
