ATTENTION: Equine Reproduction/Stud Veterinarians

Matamata Veterinary Services Equine is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic colleague to join our team in the heart of New Zealand horse country for the 2024 breeding season.

MVS is a large equine practice with a purpose-built clinic and referral hospital. The majority of our caseload is Thoroughbred racing and breeding and we provide routine reproductive management on Thoroughbred stud farms throughout the region. The successful applicant must be capable of managing on-farm mare and foal cases during the breeding season.

The hospital is well-equipped with full surgical facilities, digital radiography, digital ultrasonography, nuclear scintigraphy, in-house laboratory, video-endoscopy and gastroscopy. It also features a new purpose-built neonatal intensive care facility that is set up to house 4 mares with bed-bound foals, as well as a stand-alone unit providing advanced assisted reproductive technologies (AI/ET, semen collection, freezing etc.) offering referral services for infertility cases and reproductive surgery.

You will have the support of a large team of equine veterinarians (13 permanent equine vets including two board-certified specialists in surgery and one board-certified specialist in sports medicine and rehabilitation), 3-4 interns and a large team of nurses/support-staff. On-call for after-hours is shared equally.

A culture of quality service to the client, dedicated care of the patient and peer support exists in this practice. If you are looking for an exciting career opportunity in a modern and progressive equine practice, then you might be a great fit for our Equine team!

Applications (including CV and the names of 2 referees) are invited from veterinarians who are self-motivated and keen to join a progressive team.
