CONNAUGHT HOUSE VET GROUP – EQUINE

Friendly and happy, small but enthusiastic, very well regarded and supportive INDEPENDENT equine practice requires a colleague to join us, due to departure of our lovely assistant for a medicine residency.   We are a 3+ vet practice, an XL vet’s member, located on the Staffordshire /Shropshire border.  Our team includes an excellent EVN with an interest in behaviour, who assists with procedures and does appropriate ambulatory work. Experience would be a benefit, but the right new graduate would be considered.

Our workload is varied, mainly leisure horses, with some showjumpers/ eventers/ dressage horses /racehorses etc. Minimal stud work currently. We work to as high a level as possible, and have a wealth of experience within the practice, the partners having special interests in dentistry and lameness/ performance.  We also do a lot of racecourse duty work. The successful applicant could participate if interested in helping with this.

The practice is largely ambulatory, with a clinic base which we use for lameness workups/ dental extractions/ standing surgery etc.

We have excellent equipment including a surgical and therapeutic laser gastro/ URT videoscopes, Sprint air DR, with battery generator and large 6 kw x ray generator, two US scanners, powerfloats etc. Also, a good in-house lab, located at the small animal hospital within our practice group. This assists with obtaining prompt results for urgent cases.

The rota is 1 in 4 weekends, rarely very busy, and mostly 1 night a week on call. 4 day week, van provided flat may be available if required .

Salary depending on experience, from £35 k new grad
