Milton Keynes, February 05, 2018 – The 3rd Horse Health Week (HHW), taking place between 5th to 9th March 2018, will focus on ‘Doing the Best for Your Horse’.  The week will be supported with a range of targeted materials that encourage owners and practices to make individual commitments to improving the health of horses in their care.

The HHW support materials will include a range of animations vets can use on their websites and social media pages. These communicate the importance of commiting to preventative health practices including vaccination, dentistry and worming.  They will be supported through the KBHH (Keeping Britain's Horses Healthy) Facebook page and on Twitter (@Keepinghorseshealthy). This provides owners with the chance to share photographs of them doing the best for their horse, to show what they are doing to protect their horse from the risk of disease. There will also be A5 cards for displaying outside stables so individual preventative healthcare measures can be easily seen and owners can demonstrate they are doing their best. There is also a pre-vaccination form vets can use to prompt a conversation on the specific needs of the horse and owner.

Vicki Farr, Equine Veterinary Advisor at MSD Animal Health comments: “This year it is building on the knowledge acquired throughout the KBHH campaign and from previous HHWs.  The focus is therefore on creating a call to action for owners to do the best by their horse and, in the process, improving the health of the equine community. Also wanting to encourage vet practices to develop the dialogue they have with owners so they better understand the specific needs of their horse and knowledge requirements of the owners.”
