Hands-on Equine Cardiology

This popular one-day equine cardiology course is being offered again in 2019. This is a practical course and covers all the commonly encountered cardiovascular abnormalities in horses. Emphasis is placed on auscultation and hands-on interpretation of clinical findings using horses with cardiac abnormalities brought into the racing school. The course includes over 3 hours of practical case examination and case discussion of horses affected with all the common cardiac abnormalities that you are likely to encounter in general practice, so please bring suitable clothing and your stethoscope. The course is ideal for equine practitioners and RCVS cardiology certificate candidates.

KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES
• Develop and hone your clinical skills, so that you can confidently identify all of the day-day to murmurs and arrhythmia in horses.
• Use your clinical skills and new-found knowledge to allow you to interpret your auscultation findings to best advise your clients in future.
• Acquire a logical approach to interpreting clinical findings of different clinical cases.
• Gain knowledge of currently available treatment and management strategies for the management of equine cardiac disease.

  • Cancellation more than 6 weeks prior to the start of the course: A refund will be made less a 10% administrative charge.
  • Cancellation less than 6 weeks prior to the start of the course: No refunds can be guaranteed, but if BEVA can resell the place a refund will be made less a 20% administrative charge.
  • Transfer of Delegate: Booked places can be transferred to another person. If the transferee is not a BEVA Member he/she will be liable for the difference between the Member and Non-Member delegate rates.
  • Insurance: All delegates must have appropriate liability and professional indemnity insurance.
  • Safety: Delegates must bring appropriate safety wear (coveralls, hard hats, boots etc) to courses involving practical sessions.
  • Data Protection: I understand that BEVA may pass my details to the organisers or sponsors of the courses unless I have specified otherwise.
  • Compliance: I am a qualified to undertake the procedures being taught, or I am in training for such a qualification, in which case I will make the organisers aware of my status.
