Hambleton Equine Clinic

The Paddock Stanley Grange Great Ayton North Yorkshire TS9 6QD

Tel: 01642 723132

Hambleton Equine clinic is offering a second internship with immediate effect. We are an 11 vet specialist equine practice located in beautiful North Yorkshire, housed in a state-of-the-art purpose built hospital building. HEC is fully equipped with a Hallmarq standing MRI unit and nuclear scintigraphy.

Typically, we see approximately 2000 horses through the doors in a year and we have a wide range of horses and a wide and varied caseload. On average, we will operate on approximately 250 cases per year, the hospital is overseen by an RCVS registered specialist in equine surgery and Diplomate of the ACVS and ECVS. There is one advanced practitioner in orthopaedic surgery and an advanced practitioner in internal medicine. In addition to this we run a specialist referral ophthalmology service and dental service so interns will get exposed to a wide range of advanced cases. The practice also has a very busy reproduction arm and we are situated next door to a stud farm so there will also be significant exposure to this aspect of equine veterinary practice.

We believe that the internship will provide the successful applicant with all the necessary skills to go on to general practice and also offer a sound platform to advance into a residency program. It is a friendly team so we are looking for candidates who enjoy their work and will be enthusiastic members of our staff - it will be hard work but very rewarding.

What you need to know: You will be part of a 1 in 2 on call rota. On site /off site accommodation will be provided with utility bills paid. You will have a paid CPD allowance.

About you: You should hold a degree in Veterinary Science, have experience in an equine practice and be able to demonstrate core clinical skills. You have good communication and interpersonal skills and are an excellent addition to the team. You should have a driving licence and will need to provide your own vehicle.

Application process: Please send your cv and a covering letter to recruitment@hambleton-equine.co.uk. The closing date for application is Friday 29th November 2019
