A Warm Welcome from the BEVA President.
Liverpool, a city voted European Capital of Culture, is the perfect venue for this year’s BEVA Congress, which will feature an array of new topics and education platforms as well as the perennial favourites. Liverpool holds many memories for me as a young vet school student and this year’s programme features aspects which would have suited me both then and now!
I am pleased to announce this year’s Plenary Lecture will be given by Eddie Clutton, who should inspire the Equine Anaesthesia enthusiasts among us with a title of, ‘Equine Anaesthesia: Illness, Pain, Broken Legs and Death,’ while Saturday’s sessions will feature four on the Veterinary/Physiotherapy Interface,’ something I am sure will conjure up a lot of debate! Speaking of debates, we have kept to the Moral Maze style, which was so successful in 2014, and the two scheduled for this year, ‘Equine Sports Medicine Ethical?’ and ‘Does Equine Practice Need to Change to be More Compatible with Family Life?’ will not disappoint.
Congress is not only a time for education but also to catch up with colleagues and friends as well as meet new faces. I do hope you will be able to join me for my President’s Reception to open the event on Wednesday evening, which will feature a theme of Liverpool finest sporting event, the Grand National. Whilst at Friday’s Annual Dinner I will be handing over the reins to next year’s President, and what a whirlwind of a year it has been!
I look forward to welcoming you in Liverpool.
Congress will take place between 9th-12th September 2015 at ACC, Kings Dock Street, Liverpool, Merseyside L3 4FP, UK - right in the heart of one of Europe's most vibrant and exciting cities.
