About the course

Join us for an exciting day at Osberton International Horse Trials to take part in an interactive discussion day dedicated to sports horse CPD.

During the day we will:

  • Discuss and debate common sports horse conditions you’re faced with, including the realities of treating tendons, ligaments and kissing spines. The discussions will focus on what gets results, case selection and the variety of options available
  • Consider how far we can push and improve the horse, understanding where the limit may be and our part in finding that limit
  • Look at rider biomechanics and pressure points to understand cause behind injury
  • Discuss the good, the bad and the ugly of pre-purchase radiographs in sports horses
  •

Whilst the morning will be focused on lectures, the afternoon will be devoted to roundtable, case-based discussions. The afternoon sessions will give you the opportunity to discuss how the theory covered in the morning can be applied to real-life cases and how other vets manage complex cases.

Before joining us at 10am, you can enjoy the trials. You could opt to attend the dressage phase, go shopping, walk the cross-country course or grab a coffee and watch the warm-up.

    What will I learn?

By the end of the course you will...
    1. Have an improved awareness of realistic limits of equine physiology
    2. Have updated your knowledge of tendon and ligament management
    3. Understand the effect the rider is having on the horse and it’s way of going, and how that links in with clinical findings
    4. Be up to date with current views on kissing spines and management options
    5. Have an improved understanding of pre-purchase radiographs, specifically in the sports horse
