Its election time and the BVA are looking for motivated individuals who are willing to share their knowledge, experience and views to benefit the profession.


Members Services Group
 (MSG)
MSG currently has eight vacancies, one for a recent graduate member and seven in the UK regions (Wales, West Midlands, Yorkshire, East of England, South East, South West and North East). MSG develops new services and resources and is currently addressing issues of student finance and debt as well as developing a tailored package of benefits for retired members. Regional members also act as alternates for representatives on BVA Council.

Ethics and Welfare Group (EWG)
We have one independent veterinary vacancy and one lay vacancy on EWG which is responsible for developing BVA policy on ethical issues such as welfare at slaughter and pedigree dog breeding. The group has also recently been looking at a means of prioritising welfare issues.

Veterinary Policy Group (VPG)
VPG advises BVA Council on any veterinary subject of national interest relevant to animal health, animal welfare, or public health. The group is currently considering a number of issues including bovine TB, dangerous dogs and OV fees. There is currently one vacancy on the group.

 BVA Animal Welfare Foundation (BVA AWF)
The BVA AWF is the veterinary profession's animal welfare charity dedicated to improving the welfare of animals through veterinary science, education and debate. There are four vacancies for trustees.

Overseas Group (OG)
The OG liaises with veterinary associations, organisations and individuals across the developing world.  It considers and advises on those overseas matters of concern to the veterinary profession and currently has two vacancies.
