The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) confidential reporting line and email address trial is currently at its halfway point – allowing veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and other members of the veterinary team to talk to discuss concerns about colleagues confidentially.
The trial started on Monday 11 July and will continue until Monday 10 October with a decision being made at the November meeting of RCVS Council as to whether it should be made a permanent service.

The telephone line and email address allows veterinary professionals to have informal and confidential discussions with members of the College’s Professional Conduct Department on potential fitness to practise issues without formally raising a concern.

If, however, veterinary professionals wish to raise a formal concern about the conduct of a veterinary surgeon or veterinary nurse then they will need to identify both themselves and the individual for the purposes of the investigation process.

Veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses who wish to contact a member of the RCVS Professional Conduct Department in confidence can do so by calling 07599 958294 between 9am and 5pm, or by emailing reporting@rcvs.org.uk.

The bespoke form for veterinary professionals who wish to raise a concern about a veterinary surgeon or veterinary nurse can be downloaded from www.rcvs.org.uk/concerns
