Vets are reminded that the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme Core Standards are effectively the minimum legal requirement that must be met in running a veterinary practice.

The new Draft Code of Professional Conduct for Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS Draft Code)  is now in its consultation phase.  Comments should be with the RCVS by Friday 24th June.

BEVA President, Deidre Carson, comments "Although the PSS is voluntary some veterinarians might feel they do not need to attain these standards if they do not opt in to the PSS.  This is an erroneous assumption because these core standards represent the minimum legal requirements for a practice to attain and should be upheld whether the practice has opted into the PSS or not".
