The VMD (Veterinary Medicines Directorate) has published revised information on its website, http://www.vmd.defra.gov.uk/vet/horses.aspx, for horse owners on recording the use of veterinary medicines.
The revised guidance consists of:
• revised horse medicines and record keeping information for horse owners/keepers. Produced as an information leaflet which can be printed out.
• revised Veterinary Medicines Guidance Note (VMGN) 16: Horse medicines and horse passports. This is the detailed guide to the relevant parts of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations.
• a new horse medicines record keeping template. This can be downloaded or printed out, there is also an example of a completed version for reference.
• a video slide presentation about horse medicines and record keeping requirements.
