Thank you everyone who has volunteered to help at the London Olympic Games.

The response has been magnificent with 6 people volunteering for each veterinary post. While on the one hand, this means we are in a very strong position to provide excellent veterinary services at the Games, this means LOCOG will not be taking numerous people's applications any further. We know this will be very disappointing for those individuals.

Those of who have received and submitted Gamesmaker applications will shortly receive another email with a form requesting more detailed, vet-specific information.  There will be an interview phase over the winter and spring and we aim to have completed the final selection by April 2011. LOCOG will require vets to undertake a Gamesmaker training events and the vet workforce will all attend the test event to be held at Greenwich Park 2- 5 July 2011 (exact dates to be confirmed). Sorry if this seems a slow process but the team at LOCOG only has 2 days per month to work on veterinary matters and is also involved in processing more than 60,000 Gamesmaker applications across the entire spectrum of the Games so, please understand that we cannot communicate with each volunteer individually.

Thank you very much for your support.

Jenny Hall, Veterinary Services Manager and her volunteer team.
