Some of you may have heard of the HORSEPOWER team, but for those who have not, they are a group of UK equine vets on motorcycles who undertake CPD talks for vets and horse owners at stops on their tours; support from the sponsors and attending vets is totally donated to their named charities.

This year’s named charities are:

The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust have a long history of amazing work in Gambia. The team are aiming to raise funds to build a new urban educational and clinical centre to cater for hardworking urban donkeys and horses. A new centre will allow working horses and donkeys to be treated more effectively and will provide education at all levels from children to owners/users and vets

The Smile Train is an established charity that provides operations for children and infants with cleft palates, in effect saving the lives of thousands of children worldwide.

The 2014 tour will be the bikers 4th trip and to date they have raised over £280,000 for overseas equine and human charities. This year the Horsepower team will be riding through Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to St. Petersburg in Russia, and returning via Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The journey will cover about 2700 miles in 16 days; by any standards this alone is a huge challenge. However, in addition to the mileage, the team will be giving 8 (possibly more!) five hour CPD sessions along the way!

The team would be grateful for any support you can offer and a flyer for your practice can be downloaded here. For more information and to donate, please visit:
