The AHT would like to inform you that they have diagnosed positive cases of equine influenza in Shropshire (24th July 2013).

These cases follow positive diagnoses recently made in Northumberland, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire, although no epidemiological link has so far been made between the different cases in these counties.

The AHT would like to take this opportunity to remind you that member's of the HBLB funded equine influenza surveillance scheme, are offered free diagnosis for equine influenza. Please be on the look out for signs of coughing and nasal discharge and submit samples from any suspected cases to the AHT for free diagnosis. Please also remember that clinical signs may be reduced in vaccinated horses, and samples from these animals are very important to the teams research.
