This year's RCVS day fell into two parts: the AGM and the awards ceremony.

The AGM saw changes to RCVS Council and the Veterinary Nurses Council (VNC), with the election and re-election of a number of BEVA members.

BEVA Members Peter Jinman and Christ Tufnell were re-elected to council for a further four year term and Dr Tom Witte was newly-elected this year.

BEVA Hon.Publications Officer, Prof. James Wood was appointed to Council by the University of Cambridge, replacing Prof Duncan Maskell, who stood down in January.

Further congratulations go to those members who received awards on the day. Dr David Franklin was bestowed an Honorary Fellowship. David has contributed greatly to raising clinical and professional standards throughout his work both as a practising veterinary surgeon and with the Veterinary Defence Society. "He is a great communicator, treating all individuals with the same empathy, fairness, wisdom and professionalism. This is a difficult blend of qualities, and it has been present in David's work in simply exceptional measure," said Jacqui Molyneux (outgoing RCVS President).

Veterinary diplomas were also awarded on the day for a range of subjects, including the first three Veterinary Nurses to achieve the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (DIP AVN)  in Equine. This went to BEVA members Natale Fisk and Marie Rippingale.

Full details of all the Council appointments and award winners can be found on the RCVS website.

Once again, congratulations to you all!
