It is with great sadness that we report the death of BEVA Past President, John Nicol BVM&S MRCVS who passed away earlier this month.

John was a founder member of BEVA and was president of the association from 1973-74. He continued to support the association for many years after this and attended BEVA Congress as often as he could.

Practicing in Guildford, Surrey, John worked in mixed practice, though mainly as an equine practitioner. He latterly became interested in acupuncture and was to become widely acknowledged as an expert in his field, travelling on several occasions to China to develop his skills.

John was instrumental in the formation of the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists (ABVA) and acted as a driving force behind the association. He served as president of the ABVA from its inception in 1985, until 1999 and continued to practice acupuncture long after retirement from general practice.
