AHVLA has launched its first veterinary and technical strategy following six months of consultation with staff and stakeholders across Great Britain.

The strategy describes the essential functions required of AHVLA veterinary and technical services looking ahead five to ten years and considers what is likely to change and what may be constant. It sets out:

  • Why the services provided by state veterinarians are needed in Great Britain
  • How AHVLA's veterinary and technical work will change and adapt over the next five years
  • The skills and capabilities needed to maintain resilience and meet the challenges of future animal disease risks.

Following this publication, work will now begin to draw up an implementation plan to take the strategy forward and bring it to life.
