BEVA is a member and supporter of the Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations.  FEEVA is part of the FVE with offices in Brussels, and is the lobbying group for the profession. The Association has 38 member bodies, not just those in the EU, although EU policy tends to dominate the agenda.

BEVA past president Josh Slater recently stepped down after 3 years as the FEEVA president and Giorgio Ricardi from Italy (CIVA) has taken over. BEVA are very grateful for Josh's hard work and dedication at FEEVA, and for flying the flag, so to speak. BEVA's immediate past president Ben Mayes has now joined the FEEVA board.

FEEVA operates by sounding out the member countries on various topical issues, for example medicine availability, transport, disease surveillance and antimicrobial resistance. The latest newsletter includes an AMR survey. BEVA are ahead here with their Protect Me campaign and a UK survey was carried out last  year.  Nonetheless it is important for us also to feed back into Europe, so please take the time to complete this survey if you can.

Meanwhile, Ben is putting together a working group on PPE methods across Europe. Please contact Ben via the BEVA office if you would like to know more.
