An outbreak of EHV-1 has been confirmed on a yard associated with the Heythrop Hunt. Swabs and bloods taken from clinical cases last week confirmed EHV infection. The yard has now been in isolation for 12 days. No other yards appear to be involved in the outbreak and no horses have died or been euthanased. The Heythrop Hunt have been commended for their swift and responsible actions.
The AHT article on EHV-1 published in 2010 in the quarterly disease surveillance reports, and available here, provides an excellent summary of the disease, its diagnosis and control.
