The African Horse Sickness Control Strategy was developed by a working group chaired by The Horse Trust, and involving the equine industry, research organisations and Defra. It guides the reader through new African horse sickness legislation in England and Scotland, with similar legislation to follow in Wales.

Our strategy is to identify any suspect cases of African horse sickness as quickly as possible, to identify the source of the disease, and to minimise spread of the disease and lead the country back to disease free status.
