Council Updates CPD and Careers Education Committee
16 Mar 2021 BEVA

We’re pleased to announce the launch of a new collaboration with the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) that will bring leading experts from both the UK and the USA together to take part in virtual clinical debates.

Launching next month our first live webinar will take place on Wednesday 7th April at 7:30 pm (BST) and will be available to all AAEP and BEVA members. Roger Smith from the Royal Veterinary College, UK will chair this first discussion on the treatment of distal limb orthopaedic infections and be joined by Dean Richardson from the University of Pennsylvania, USA and Luis Rubio-Martinez from Sussex Equine Hospital, UK.

Over the last few years BEVA has developed more and more online opportunities for equine vets. In 2018 we launched our online learning platform which offers BEVA members access to a range of online CPD resources and with the launch of our online platform we have been able to incorporate online lectures into many of our practical CPD courses, allowing our practical days to be even more hands on.

In 2020 we started to provide more and more online learning opportunities and experimented with live webinars and discussions and we're excited that our collaboration with the AAEP will bring even more online CPD opportunities for BEVA members.

The talks will take place every other month online with the following topics planned for the remainder of 2021:

·         June 2021: Practical Investigation and Management of Liver Disease in the Horse

·         August 2021: The Causes and Management of Post-Operative Reflux After Colic Surgery

·         October 2021: The Management of Subchondral Bone Cysts in the Stifle

·         December 2021: Management of High-Risk Pregnancy

Recordings of each talk will be made available to BEVA members via the BEVA Online Learning Platform.

BEVA members can sign up for the webinars here.

If you are an AAEP member please contact AAEP to register for the webinar.
