book iconAbout the Course

This brand new online course will update you on complicated and stressful cases including the painful laminitic, suspected fractures and ongoing OA cases.

If you've ever wondered what else you can do to break the pain cycle in a laminitic or how else you can manage the pain in a potential fracture, or if you have just come to the end of your bag of tricks for a lame pony then come and learn from a variety of experienced clinicians.

The course is made up of two parts with on-demand lectures which will be available to watch at anytime throughout the course as well as four live virtual case based discussions. A brief overview of each part of the course is below:

On-demand lectures
You will have access to five on-demand lectures that can be watched at anytime throughout the course, however we do recommend watching them prior to joining the live discussions. The on-demand lectures are:

  • Physiology of pain with Polly Taylor
  • Pain assessment and pain scoring with David Bardell
  • Physical methods for pain management with Andrew Harrison
  • Drugs - what's new and what do we already have with Mark Senior
  • What you could (or should) have in your car and how to use it with Alison Bennell

Live discussions
As part of the course you will also be invited to take part in four live online discussions. Each of these sessions will include aspects covered in the lectures and look at welfare, when to draw the line and when and how to refer, or manage pain on the yard.

Each live discussion will be case based and use cases commonly seen in ambulatory equine practice. All the sessions will be recorded but they must be watched either live or recorded for you to complete the course.

The dates and topics of the live discussions are:
