How to Heal Wounds in Horses - an Online Masterclass for Vets and Nurses

About the Course

This brand new online course will take you through all of the key concepts of wound physiology and introduce new treatment ideas designed to optimise wound healing.

Using online lectures and a series of live interactive case discussions with the experts this course will be of real, practical benefit to you - whether you are on the road or monitoring bandages in the clinic.

The course will give you access to 12 on-demand lectures and three live virtual discussions.

The 12 lectures will take you through everything you need to know about wound management, the lectures are:

• Vacuum assisted wound healing - making it work in the field by Patrick Pollock

• Sheet grafting by Patrick Pollock
• Primary closure - making it stretch by Dylan Gorvy
• NSAIDS and antimicrobials - rational use and novel methods of delivery by Derek Knottenbelt

The live discussions will give you the opportunity to take part in case based discussions and trouble shoot problem wounds you encounter during the course time. The dates for the live discussions are:

Key Learning Objectives

• Understand how to apply evidence-based principles to prepare the wound bed for treatment
• Identify when to use manual, mechanical, biological and other debridement techniques to promote wound healing and plan how to use them
• Identify and plan mitigation for impediments to wound healing
• Confidently understand and plan when and how to skin graft in practice
• Understand and formulate plans to use new treatment modalities including vacuum assisted wound healing, and advanced skin reconstruction techniques in the treatment of equine wounds

How to Heal Wounds in Horses is a down to earth, low cost, but high quality must attend course for vets and vet nurses who treat wounds in horses.

• Cancellation more than 6 weeks prior to the start of the course: A refund will be made less a 10% administrative charge.
• Cancellation less than 6 weeks prior to the start of the course: No refunds can be guaranteed, but if BEVA can resell the place a refund will be made less a 20% administrative charge.
• Transfer of Delegate: Booked places can be transferred to another person. If the transferee is not a BEVA Member he/she will be liable for the difference between the Member and Non-Member delegate rates.
• Insurance: All delegates must have appropriate liability and professional indemnity insurance.
• Safety: Delegates must bring appropriate safety wear (coveralls, hard hats, boots etc) to courses involving practical sessions.
