book iconAbout the Course

This course uses a blended learning approach. Before the practical day, you will be given access to online resources so that you can get the best out of the practical day.

In your own time, you can review these to cover underpinning knowledge on how to characterise murmurs and identify specific cardiac pathologies, ECG techniques and principles of interpretation and cardiac pathophysiology.

There will also be case-based examples to work through covering common cardiac conditions and challenges such as how to assess murmurs in colic, poor performance and foals. At the practical sessions, you will examine horses with cardiac problems and gain some insight on how to approach electrocardiography and echocardiography.
