Imaging the head and spine

These daunting but important areas to image will be covered in detail, with an emphasis on the use of radiography and ultrasonography. Ultrasound-guided neck, back and pelvis injections will also be covered, along with indications for advanced imaging of the head.

Abdominal investigations

Members of our specialist medicine team will provide comprehensive lectures on the use of endoscopy, abdominal ultrasonography and investigations into liver disease. In addition, a member of our specialist surgical team will give an overview of the indications for laparoscopic examination of the abdomen.

Current concepts in hocks, knees and proximal suspensory ligaments

These important areas of the horse will be discussed in details in lectures provided by members of our specialist surgical and sports medicine teams, including diagnostics, imaging and surgery.

Coping with rare emergencies

Presentations on epistaxis, neurological and seizuring horses, foaling for beginners and ocular trauma will hopefully provide the delegate with reassuring information regarding these rare but intimidating emergency scenarios.

There will be an option to visit the heath on Saturday morning to see the horses training on the gallops. This will be a guided, self-driven tour and will include breakfast rolls on return to the hospital. The course fee also included a course dinner on Friday night, daily refreshments and lunch on both days of the forum.
