We are looking to recruit an additional Equine assistant, preferably with experience, to join our friendly equine team based at Duns in the Scottish Borders.
Working as a key member of the Galedin Equine team you will have a good teamwork ethic and high standards of client care.
We cover the Scottish Borders, east Lothian and North Northumberland providing the highest level of equine care to a well-established and varied customer base – from pleasure horses through to advanced level competition horses as well as some NH racehorse and Stud work.
Some experience or an interest in Orthopaedics would be an advantage.
Facilities include an Equine theatre/ surgical unit (we have the services of a visiting RCVS recognised surgeon) and stabling with outdoor lunge and trot up areas for full lameness examinations.
All the usual equipment including - Digital x-ray, ultrasound (tendon and repro scanners), new gastroscopy and respiratory systems and a full range of Equine dentistry equipment including 2 HDE type powerfloats.
The main day to day work is ambulatory with the support of our equine clinic and nursing staff for more in-depth on-site investigations which we actively encourage. We currently have 3 certificate holders within the team meaning there is plenty of support and expertise at hand.
This is a permanent position requiring full time hours and an out of hours commitment of approximately one evening per week and one weekend in five.
We have recently moved to a 4.5-day week allowing ample time off to enjoy living and working in a wonderful rural location but with easy access to Edinburgh and Newcastle via the A1 and East coast rail line.
