EVJ is aiming to appoint a new Associate Editor: the successful candidate will have extensive experience in research and publishing in academic journals. The main functions within this role are: Manuscript Management, Strategic Direction and Journal Promotion.
The post involves working closely with the Editor and Associate Editors, Editorial Consultant Board and the publisher.
The ideal person must possess the following attributes:
v PhD or Board Certification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
v 10 years research experience with good track record of academic publications
v Excellent written and verbal communication and IT skills
v Sound scientific judgement
v Leadership qualities
v Excellent knowledge of research frontiers in equine veterinary sciences
v Ability to work to tight deadlines.
v Commercial awareness (marketing and advertising)
v Outward looking attitude with good contacts across the clinical academic community
The ideal candidate will be recognised internationally for his or her academic publications, and have an impressive track record of academic output. He or she should also be enthusiastic about developing their skills as a medical editor and have an interest in ongoing developments in medical publishing.
Applicants should note that this position is available for 12 months in the first instance with the potential for renewal beyond that. The role is estimated to require approximately 4 hours each week. Additional time is required for meetings and conferences. In light of this an honorarium is granted. Ideally the new editors would be in place by 1 July 2019.
