We are a forward thinking, friendly independent equine only practice, RCVS Practice Standards Scheme accredited, in a close teaching partnership with the RVC and members of XL Vets. In 2018 we were awarded ‘outstanding’ by the RCVS for customer service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic capable vet to join our close knit team and help maintain our high standards of veterinary care.
We would love to help you move forward with your career whether that is moving from mixed practice, looking to study a certificate or gain experience for a residency. In the practice we have 1 diploma holder in equine internal medicine (and recognised specialist), 3 certificate holders and advanced practitioners (equine practice, equine medicine and equine dentistry) and further studying is ongoing for a certificate in equine lameness diagnosis and therapeutics and a residency in equine dentistry due to start this year.
We encourage a fun work place and have introduced internal championships with monthly prizes (mostly wine and biscuits). We meet once a month for a clinical club to discuss cases and recently published papers (and most importantly free food!). We have a purpose built equine clinic filled to the brim with all the usual toys (and some extras) you would expect from a progressive practice. The client base is predominantly sports horses and leisure horses. We have excellent links with the RVC who we regularly collaborate with regarding challenging cases, research and CPD.
We are based on the picturesque Buckinghamshire-Northamptonshire border just outside Milton Keynes. We only accept clients which are within 45 minutes drive from our main clinic so you won’t spend your whole life driving! Working hours are 8am till 6pm Monday to Friday with the option to leave early if all calls are covered. Out of hours is predominantly quiet, you are generally unlucky to get a call on a week night and a busy weekend is 4 calls a day. The out of hours rota is increasing with this new advert to a 1 in 7 week nights and 1 in 7 weekends. After a weekend on call you work a 4 day week (Friday off making it a long weekend).
