Al Shaqab represents a unique and unparalleled concept in the equine world. A member of the Qatar Foundation, the mission of Al Shaqab is to promote the highest standards in the breeding and showing of Arabian horses, as well as provide innovative educational and competitive opportunities in all of the equestrian arts.
The Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) is a state of the art equine referral center located at Al Shaqab in Doha, Qatar open for all horses in the state of Qatar and the Gulf region. The hospital is equipped with a 3T MRI, CT-scan, nuclear scintigraphy and the latest technology in radiology. The hospital has 2 operating theaters, a well-equipped farrier shop, and lameness examination areas on three surfaces. Other specialized medical services at EVMC include internal medicine/ neonatal ICU, theriogenology, and anesthesiology/ pain management. In addition, EVMC consists of a state of the art veterinary diagnostic laboratory, including necropsy services. The center offers excellent research opportunities for clinicians that are interested in developing an independent or collaborative research program. Designated research laboratory space, equipped for cell culture, molecular biology, chemistry and endocrinology supervised by a full-time laboratory researcher will be available to assist and coordinate laboratory research activities.
Qatar Foundation is seeking applicants to fill the position of EVMC Executive Director
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible to provide leadership to the EVMC by managing its administrative, infrastructure, professional, scholarly and academic affairs. He/She will be in charge of developing annual budgets, plans and strategies for the Center. In addition to the administrative leadership, the ideal candidate is expected to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and awareness of the equine veterinary medicine by providing scholarly support and mentoring staff according to the academic vision of EVMC as well as establishing local and international collaborations and partnership with academic and professional veterinary, scientific and medical institutions.
Qualifications and experience:
Minimum requirements include 10 years’ of extensive work experience in leading a Veterinary/Academic Institution along with a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine Degree (DVM or equivalent) and a PhD in Veterinary Sciences or related. We are looking for a recognized member of the Equine Veterinary Community with a demonstrated academic/ scholarly excellence based on publications in peer-reviewed journals and research funding.
