Ambulatory Internship Position - Ascot - Emerson and Watson Equine Vets
We are seeking a hard-working new graduate or recently qualified veterinary surgeon to work as ambulatory intern for a period of seven months, starting at the beginning of March 2020.

Emerson & Watson is an independent ambulatory equine practice based near Ascot, Berkshire. We are proud to provide a personal, highly skilled and comprehensive first opinion service to our clients. We care for both leisure and competition horses, including many that participate at the highest level in their chosen discipline. We currently have five full-time vets based out of the main practice, and a subsidiary practice which is led by another senior veterinary surgeon.
The role will involve working alongside the practice’s vets (principally with one of the partners), assisting with their daily calls, including, by way of example: diagnostic analgesia, radiography, ultrasonography, intra-articular medications, pre-purchase examinations, etc. The successful candidates will be expected to share the driving and provide personal assistance such as keeping comprehensive case notes, billing calls on the practice management system, keeping equipment and cars clean and serviceable, maintaining and stocking the cars and the practice dispensary.
The position will be open to new graduates or recently qualified veterinary surgeons and will be for a period of seven months, starting on 1 March 2019. Potential candidates will have to be members of the RCVS and will be required to spend a day at the practice prior to being considered for the role.
The successful candidate will be required to live close to the practice and will be responsible for finding their own accommodation. They will be required to work 5 days a week and will be entitled to 16.5 days paid holiday (including bank holidays). There will be no formal out-of-hours duties although routine work can often start early and finish late. The salary will be £2,500 a month and enrolment in the practice’s work-place pension scheme.
