Job Description

We invite applications for a position as Senior Lecturer in Equine medicine (Research Track) in the Department of Clinical Science and Services. The service is integrated into the large team of specialists working in RVC Equine, located in our Hawkshead Campus, a 15-minute train ride from the centre of cosmopolitan London and near a number of international airports.

This post is suitable for an experienced equine internist who is aiming to combine delivery of high quality clinical services with teaching and his/her strong research interests. Specifically, the successful candidate will contribute to strengthening and developing our existing reputation as a centre of excellence in Equine medicine and research. This will be achieved through having competence in all areas of equine medicine, ideally with a specific interest in an aspect of internal medicine that complements the existing portfolio of clinical and research expertise.

The position will appeal to those that enjoy working in a collaborative and supportive team environment that offers flexibility and family-friendly working patterns. We welcome developing and established specialists that thrive in the academic setting, combining clinical work with a passion for teaching and research, and want a better work-life blend. We are looking for candidates with a RCVS registrable degree in veterinary science, who hold an American or European postgraduate diploma in Equine/Large Animal Internal Medicine. A PhD and a developed research background are desirable.

Experience in under- and postgraduate teaching is desirable. You will be expected to contribute to all clinical activities, supervise and mentor under and postgraduate students as required and participate in the medicine out of hours rota.

Potential applicants wishing to discuss this position informally are encouraged to contact Professor Daniel Chan (Department Chair) email: dchan@rvc.ac.uk, Associate
Professor Bettina Dunkel (Acting Clinical Director) email: bdunkel@rvc.ac.uk or Dr Micheal Hewetson: email mhewetson@rvc.ac.uk (Senior Lecturer in Equine Medicine).
