Job Description

The Animal Health Trust is a registered Charity dedicated to the improvement of animal health and welfare through veterinary research, together with high quality clinical services and a commitment to education.  It is internationally recognised as a centre of veterinary excellence.

We are currently seeking a new or recently qualified, highly motivated veterinary graduate for a period of one year within the Centre for Equine Studies.  You will become part of a team, working alongside the senior clinicians who specialise in oncology, orthopaedics, poor performance evaluation, neurology, ophthalmology, and dermatology. You will also have the opportunity to take part in a research project which, depending on your specific interests, may be in the areas of orthopaedics, infectious disease, epidemiology or oncology. You will be involved in various learning opportunities, including clinical rounds, imaging rounds, book club, journal club, case presentations, and will have the opportunity to attend regular research meetings to learn more about the amazing research that takes place across the AHT.

This is an opportunity to obtain a broad based grounding in diagnostic techniques and management, particularly related to orthopaedics, alongside excellent exposure to high quality research. This will provide an excellent foundation for entering equine practice, seeking a residency position or undertaking a PhD. The position will commence in December 2019.   The salary for these posts is £16,671.20 per annum along with free onsite accommodation.  You must have applied for or already hold Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons prior to commencement.

For initial enquiries and further information please contact: Karen Gooch, Clinic Administrator via email: karen.gooch@aht.org.uk or Tel: + 44 (0)1638 751908.

If you are interested in applying for these positions, please forward your CV and covering letter, stating why you are interested in this role to recruitment@aht.org.uk.

Closing Date: 25th October 2019
Interview Date: Week commencing 11th November 2019
Start date: 9th December or as soon as possible thereafter
