Internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery
We are seeking 3 motivated veterinary surgeons, with an interest in furthering their postgraduate experience in equine medicine and surgery, to join us in the busy Equine Hospital, Leahurst campus, Wirral.
You will rotate through medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging, OOH and clinical skills/ anaesthesia and will provide support for hospitalised clinical cases working in a team with residents and senior clinical staff. You will have responsibility for teaching veterinary students and a genuine interest in teaching is essential.
Main clinical duties include:
• Supporting the in-patient care/ treatment and diagnostic procedures
• Supporting the out-of-hours’ work load on a rotation basis
• Supporting the students looking after the cases, especially OOH
• Monitoring and producing accurate clinical and financial case notes
• Helping with daily hospital procedures
Participation in a one-in-five out-of-hours rota is required. Each intern will provide evening OOH cover for 1 week on a one-in-five basis. During this time you will have the daytime available to sleep.
As well as 20 days holiday pa, you will also have 5 days available for CPD as well as a CPD allowance of £500pa. The University also pays 21.2% pension.
You should be MRCVS or eligible and experience of working in an equine or mixed practice for at least 6 months is desirable.
The posts are available from 24 February 2020 for 12 months.
