Equine Veterinary Nurses/Technicians/Yard Hands

Seasonal Roles

Matamata Veterinary Services - Equine is a large and successful veterinary practice looking for expressions of interest in seasonal roles (equine nurses, technicians, yard hands) to be based at our busy, purpose-built Equine Hospital in the Waikato, NZ for the 2025 breeding season (Aug – Dec/Jan).

To be successful in these roles you’ll need:

Equine Vet Nurse:

  • To be either formally trained in Veterinary Nursing and/or be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge equivalent to formal training including theatre nursing; 

Other roles:

  • Experience in the equine industry and good horse handling skills (particularly with Thoroughbreds);
  • To be an energetic team player with a ‘can do’ attitude;
  • To show empathy and provide a supportive role in the care and welfare of the horses seen in our practice;
  • To deliver a consistent standard of excellence in service to our clientele;
  • Flexibility to provide support to other areas of our business; and
  • To be flexible enough with your time to participate in an after-hours roster which may include a period of night shifts. 

The successful applicants must aspire to excel in their work, as well as provide the high level of service we offer to our clients. Preference will be given to those candidates who have an equine skillset and previous experience reflecting quality care and service.
