We are looking for a vet with ideally at least 18 months experience in equine work in the UK. We see the job differently here at Vectis Equine Vets and want to give you a fulfilling, exciting role as part of a supportive team.
Every successful practice is the fruit of hard work and relies on the team. We're looking for a vet who wants to come and work in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and enjoy a work life balance that gives a great career but also a life outside work. The role can be tailored to suit an individual - recent graduates looking for somewhere supportive to gain a certificate, experienced vets wanting to enjoy their skills but have time off, or working parents who want a role that fits with family life. We are a VetGDP certified practice and last year helped our first ever ambulatory intern complete her VetGDP and then move onto a position at the Liphook Equine Hospital. We have had vets gain certificates in equine practice and equine medicine whilst working in our first opinion team and have supported 4 recent graduates through their VetGDP.
Our varied case load includes sport horses, pleasure horses, FEI showjumpers, CIC4* eventers and over 150 donkeys at the Island’s Donkey Sanctuary. Enjoy picturesque journeys between calls through the beautiful landscape of the island, over 50% of which is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The island measures 23 miles by 12 miles meaning short journeys between calls and out of hours leaving time to take advantage of the amazing outdoor pursuits the island has to offer riding, sailing, walking, cycling, surfing, running…
Join the team working on the road 4 or 4.5 days per week. If wanted, we will support and encourage you working towards a fully funded RCVS equine certificate. You will also benefit from professional development day’s at “Liphook Equine hospital” shadowing their European and RCVS specialists to help gain the practical experience and case management skills needed to compliment your advancing knowledge.
100% ambulatory but with our own stocks and use of trot up and menage at local yard when required. Currently a 4 vet team with 2 fantastic receptionists who will help organise your day and provide exceptional admin support.
Originally the practice was a branch of “The Liphook Equine Hospital” but became independent in 2012. We retain very close ties with Liphook and their European specialists visit regularly for referral opinions or surgeries allowing you to stay involved in referral work ups.
