We are seeking an Equine Veterinarian with Advanced Dentistry Focus at Endell Equine Hospital, Salisbury.

Endell Equine Hospital is a well-established tier 3 hospital providing care to the horses in the Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset areas. We strive to perform the best equine medicine possible and our ambulatory team have access to the exceptional hospital facilities and equipment to achieve this.  The hospital has a history of providing dentistry including advanced procedures in house. We have invested in some new equipment and personnel with experience in this field to improve our dentistry offerings. Due to a move to another country, we are now looking for someone to head up our dentistry offerings. There is a caseload to be built in the area for someone with the drive to do this. We're looking for a vet with either an existing advanced dentistry qualification or someone looking to pursue certification in advanced dentistry.

Our team currently consists of 7 ambulatory vets, 1 specialist surgeon, 2 hospital interns, 4 clinical nurses, 2 grooms and numerous support staff. All of our 7 ambulatory vets have their own complementary skills and interests (e.g. surgery, sports medicine, stud work, internal medicine etc.) and where possible the caseload will be molded around the applicant's interests. A fully stocked fleet car will be provided for all work activities. Flexible and part-time working patterns are supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine and emergency ambulatory equine work
  • Triage and collaborate with in-house specialists in diagnosis and management of complex cases requiring hospitalisation.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and vets through excellent communication and attention to detail.
  • On call requirements
    • 1 in 5 OOH cover (1 in 4 during the stud season)
    • OOH supported by Equicall every other week and weekend so that only hospital responsibilities are required on Equicall weeks, so effectively 1 in 10 for ambulatory on call.
    • The on-call duties include ambulatory calls and receiving/triaging hospital cases.
    • A well-deserved day off in lieu after a weekend on call is standard

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine and Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with clients and team members.
  • Full UK driver's license
  • We conduct Bristol student's equine rotations at the hospital, so an interest in teaching is welcome.
  • Dentistry qualifications desirable
