BEVA HQ

The team behind the scenes

David Mountford

Chief Executive Officer

As Chief Executive, David looks after the smooth running of the Association and tries to keep the BEVA office in line. When not managing all things BEVA, David is often to be found spending time with his family and an increasing menagerie of animals or out on the Rugby pitch coaching.

Effie Brooks

Financial Manager

As our resident northerner and we have great fun debating the correct way to say ‘bath’ and ‘grass’! Effie has the important job of looking after the books, so we make sure she waits until after the hard work is done before enjoying the odd Sambuca or two. When not in the office, Effie enjoys spending time with her family and animals, including office regular and stand in paper shredder, Poppy the spaniel.

Verity Malcom

Marketing and Membership Executive

Verity is in charge of looking after the BEVA members and helps with the marketing projects. Her beloved Cocker Spaniel, Gwen, is a daily visitor to the office and loves to keep laps warm and the smile on peoples faces! In her spare time Verity enjoys riding and competing her horses, a Connemara pony, an ex-racehorse and two ridden showing Arabs. Whenever she isn't busy with her horses she enjoys shooting, drinking and eating!

jane woodley

Editorial Secretary

Jane works in the editorial office dealing with authors, reviewers and editors and processing submissions to both EVJ and EVE. In her spare time, she ‘enjoys’ jogging, Zumba and cycling.

Fiona Cunnington

Executive Assistant

Fiona's role (or perhaps we should say challenge) is keeping BEVA Council members in order and supporting each committee through the development of different projects and resources.  Along side this she looks after the administration of the BEVA Trust. Out of the office, Fiona enjoys running, cycling and walking, in fact anything sporty and somewhere in between, the chickens, cat and husband get looked after!

Debbie Wylie

Programmes Manager

Debbie joined the BEVA team in 2013 as Office Administrator and quickly whipped us all into shape, even installing an alarmed 'Cookie Jar' so that we could tell when David was at the biscuits again!  In January 2015 Debbie took over the role as Programme Manager. She is also a very busy mum of two small children.

Rebecca Radley

Head of Marketing and Membership

Rebecca joined the team in 2017 and looks after the member experience and manages the BEVA marketing and communications. In her spare time she can be found either chasing her two dogs and husband up mountains or cuddling them (just the dogs) on the sofa.

JOn ruff

Information Systems Manager

JOCELYN THOMPSON

Events Manager

Joss is our multi-talented sports woman, who when not in the office looking after our commercial partners, is most likely to be found out on the river with her rowing club, or on the netball court. Joss has also just completed her first half marathon, the first of many we’re sure! Joss is also the proud owner of two tortoises',Tina and Dave, who occasionally make trips to the BEVA office.

sarah bishop

Office Administrator

After a 2 year break from work to have her little girl, Sarah joined BEVA in 2015. Sarah enjoys quiet nights in cosied up with a hot chocolate, spending time with family and friends and baking. The BEVA team are more than happy to be her guinea pigs for new cakes!

SUe Wright

Editorial Manager

Sue has been working in the Editorial Office since 2006. She is responsible for the production of BEVA’s two journals, Equine Veterinary Journal and Equine Veterinary Education. At weekends she enjoys relaxing with her husband, two grown up children and her two young grandsons.

sarah gasper

Learning Manager

Sarah joined us in November 2017 to oversee the online learning and CPD in general. In her spare time she can be found chasing dogs, children and various assorted livestock around the family smallholding in a 'carry on farming' type manner or locumming for local practices.
