COURSE LIMITED TO 30 DELEGATES
Description:

This is a 2-day course, consisting of 2 hours of lectures each morning followed by 6 hours of practical classes, all of which will be held at the Division of Veterinary Clinical Studies, Easter Bush, near Edinburgh. Because of feedback from previous courses requesting increased practical time, this course will have 12 hours of small group, practical classes. This course is intended for delegates who have already attended a standard equine dentistry course and who perform a reasonable amount of clinical equine dentistry. Knowledge of basic equine oral anatomy, physiology, pathology and treatment of routine dental abnormalities will be assumed.

The course will cater both for those who wish to concentrate on the non-surgical correction of dental abnormalities, i.e. on advanced techniques to correct dental overgrowths, displacements, performance floating, treating diastemata etc, and also for delegates who wish to place more emphasis on the surgical aspects of equine dentistry such as oral extraction and repulsion techniques, bracing foals with “parrot mouth”, treating jaw fractures, filling infundibula, endodontics and sinus surgery. In order to allow as much “hands-on” experience as possible this course will be restricted to 30 delegates utilising 10 tutors and treating up to 30 horses with major dental disorders over the two days.

Registered delegates are also invited to attend an informal dentistry research workshop at Easter Bush Veterinary Centre the afternoon before the course (16th July), Further details available in the attachment below.
